Nice dog! Think the record is over 24 on hook and line, but I believe they can get bigger than 30lbs. Where did you shoot him, how deep, etc....?

rob allens are by far the best and straightest shootin gun i have ever shot commercial or not...the band is plenty strong i have shot dolphin and wahoo in the blue water groupers snapers in shallow.... my brother has shot a sailfish also...all of my freinds that have shot them have never gone back to there old guns and never will..for instance fishhunta on the board used to swear by riffe and he now shoots a rob allen and loves them..florida freedivers is the place and they just move to palm beach. i will get the number and give it to you..keep lookin for the number,it will be up tomarrow.. the one band is just as strong as any two band gun out there thats all shoot is one band...heres is the pic of the wahoos i shot there not big but there still wahoo.

I speared a 22 lb. gutted red snapper this weekend. I'll post it as soon as the film is developed. I shot and lost one that looked at least 40 lbs this weekend.

I got a dogtooth snapper that weighed 40 pounds during a spearfishing tournament a number of years ago.We all thought it was a cubera, but the biologist at the weigh in said it was a dog.
Thats a nice snapper you got there.

Forget to say in my last post but we got him in 80 feet of water off of Sarasota on a wreck.
I had seen him there the week before during scouting.

 That's my stomping grounds. Was that a publicly known wreck? I've never seen any other snapper besides Mangos in that deep of water. Have you?

Smartass. :D I do have to gum it like a pacifier and have noticed that bubbles occasionally escape from my upper lip where that didn't happen before. As you recall the Dentist gave me temporary partials to wear for the past 2 weeks. Tomorrow I go in to get bridge work done. Which is good, because I lost my partials Saturday on the boat when I was puking over the side. It was rough in the morning and everybody on the boat was tossing their cookies overboard. Even the guys with dramadine and patches were puking. It was so bad that 2 guys just refused to go into the water out of fear of choking on their vomit in their regulators. My dentist thinks this whole thing is awesome and she suggested putting this work into some military dental journal. I'll take some before and after pictures tomorrow. I am kind of apprehensive about getting my teeth fixed because I have become a hot commodity here in Georgia among the local women. I have to get my priorities straight.:D

As for my high horse, why not come climb up here and knock me off it? Just make sure you pack a lunch!
I was FK'ing around with the kid who cannot spell and was asking a legitimate question at the same time.
I guess you and your buddy forgot his post where he wished to engage in some juvenile P.E. Pete banter with the older varsity boys who have already dropped their nuts!

Freedive Slayer you shot that snapper in the Marquesas? Tell me its as good as I think it will be cause I'm going back there for a week in May. I've been twice but visibility both times was about 10'-15' at best. Limited out in snapper but thats it cause we couldn't see anything else. Hopefully we will have better clarity to find some good spots. Its hard to find spots when the water is a nice opaque green color. Anyways...that snapper was definitely nice.

Hey Freedive Slayer! Do you think the west end of the Marquesas by the wrecks, the patches just off the Islands, or the outside reef is the best...or maybe they are all good. So many places to try not sure where is best to start. Unfortunately I'm limited by my friend who can't seem to go deeper than 20'.
SLAYER
05-03-2003, 12:32 PM
go to the outside stuff . you can still find stuff that is still shallow out there and if he cant dive that deep tell him to start training..if you really want to be able to hunt 30-35 foot. this pic is from there also.

could someone please tell me how to size down your pictures
ucfreceiver
05-04-2003, 01:50 AM
Well...if you scan the pic just scan it smaller and if its dig cam adj the settings. I had to scan my pics real small cause they blew up once posted. As for the Marquesas we will be limited by weather cause we have a 16' boat. We will be there from next sat thru wed the 14th. Probably do some spearing on the outer reef and a lot around the wrecks off the west end as well as in the river on the eastern island. We won't go in the harbor ever again. We speared there once then went back later to fish. We caught so many sharks it was ridiculous. Hammerheads, lemons, nurse, and bull. My friend fought what had to be a 10 ft bull shark for over 30 min before it cut the line.
