Truck was still the shop,I was sick for almost a week and was pissed I couldn't get to the Open.Fri.night good friend says take my truck for the weekend.Also another buddy calls to say he'd cancelled work due to being sick but felt better ........was I diving?We go out late Saturday head out to get bait at NM ...as he is putting the anchor ball on his wedding band slips off.we dive the bait hole .......shitloads of short 18" snapper and one poppa gag who want's tp play hide an' seek.....did I mention my tank had leaked somehow during the bumpy ride down to 1200psi?We go to the Huggins after every other piece of metal in 5 miles has 3 boats around it.A Regal(no shit Greyface:))tries to run us off as we anchor in .He was difting a 1/2 mile away in sand.Ran up to us and looked upset.I proceed to lose 4 rodbenders in a row on the bottom.The flatline goes off and he gets away.It's 2:00 and all we have is calmari and cigar minnows.We are both tired by now and decide to dive.As we're going down the mother of all gags get buddies attention as I'm heading around back to the stern .3 gags look up at me 2 of them made fillets.Buddy gets no shot at the big guy.We fish nearby for 12 b-liners from 1 1/2 to 2 1/2. Head home at 30kts flat seas.15#&22#gag .Not the best day but I had been planning on laying on my dead ass all weekend.BTW buddy with truck left me his Corvette last night after we got home ,he needed to run errands in his truck.........life is sweet.
