Do any of your buddies (or you) shoot the 110 or 100 RA? I am going to get one I just don't know what size, the 100, 110 or 120?? What do you think and how far do they shoot accurately? I mostly spear around the reef, but I am slowly getting better and diving and would like some bigger fish if I see them. Is the 120 too long for reef? I have had an OMER Excalibur 110 and it seemed a little long but was not bad. I tried my buddies 100 and it seemed easier to maneuver through the water! What is your recommendations??
Thank

definately go with the 100 at least. we all dive 120's, but the 100 is just way too short for the bigger fish. In my experience, the 120 is not too big for the reef, its so light that it is still manuverable.

Fishhunta,
Thanks for the input, I was thinking about the 100 but not anymore. I want the 120 but don't want to buy it and find it too big for the caves! I will see when the stor gets them in this week.
How far do you think they shoot and still kill??
Thanks

just bought the single band 120cm...nice gun...shots far, and perfect for my freediving reef combo...we were doing some bluewater this weekend and i shot a spanish mackeral....so far my gun has a 100% kill rate...2/2....i have a ton of chest bruises from loading it...make sure to wear a wetsuit and like a mouse pad under it or something...def. go with the 120...get a reel or float....i prefer reels for reef....but also bought a float for bluewater...cudas spooled up my reel in 5 seconds...go to florida free divers in west palm...went today...either go with 2 16mm bands...or 1 20mm band....till i get my technique mastered, im sticking to my custom 20mm band(inch longer then normal), then prob. by summer ill shorten it...im not a macho man...6'0...155...

Sweet! Thanks for the info mushkee!
I am thinking of the 120 now! I can't go to that store in west palm cuz I am in Hawaii. The store I go to should be getting their shipment of RA 110 and 120's in this week. They have 100 and below and a 130 (def too big) I can't waite! Thanks for all the help mushkee and fishhunta!

nice, definately go with the 120, and put some ice on that chest. actually, you can sew an extra layer of neoprene into your wetsuit- it helps. dont worry because after you get used to the gun, you dont get bruised, i guess you eventually find the right spot to place the butt. good luck!

Thanks for all the help everyone. I went to the stor to buy the 120 but the people there talked me into the 110. They said that the 120 would be a little hard to manuver around the caves and stuff here in Hawaii. But it is nice and I am sure I will like it. I am going out tomorrow to try it out.

We hardly do any cave/hole spearing while freediving here is S. Florida. Most of the fish (muttons, gags, hogs, kings, cobia, etc) are out in the open. For this reason most divers (myself included) stick with the 120. Trust me, it has plenty of power even with one band. I guess the 110 maybe better if you target species in holes (but maybe that's all they had in your LDS so it HAD to be the best gun for you;) ;) ;) )
