Costa Rica Spear Fishing Info

Traveling to Costa Rica to research investment properties and Surf, would also like to spear. Anyone have any insights into CR?

When are you going down? I am going Nov. 3 - 11th. I am bringing my snorkeling gear, last time I was down, it was murky on the shore near Quepos. We went out to Isla Canos about 12 miles off Drakes Bay, and it was fantastic. This time were going to Hermosa Beach, about 3 miles North of Jaco. Does anyone know of any good diving around Jaco? Snorkeling? Steve.

I'm goin November 14 - 21st, in the Northwest, Flying into Liberia airport, be looking at property in el coco and hoping to spear and surf. Looks like I have a great local hook up from an old friend from Brandon where I grew up. Its going to be a great trip.

Hermosa is SOUTH of Jaco and I would seriously doubt there would be any decent shore diving in that general area due to the swell action.

do you know you were diving in the poo water that runs out of the city?

Yes, if I was diving in Quepos, which I didnt, I would have been in deep ca-ca. Back then we snorkeled in Manuel-Antonio park in one of the coves. Still not clear because of the runoff and wave action. Yes I messed up which way North and South was. At Playa Hermosa the swell was big, good surfing, and no vis. We didnt snorkel at all. My only way to do that would have been charter a boat to take me way out or to an offshore island. But we did have a blast :D . We did the all day zip lineing, which as usual, was fun. We hiked up streams and mountain roads the rest of the trip, almost got bit 2 different times by a fer-de-lance in a stream bed. Some of our party went dolphin fishing and did catch some good ones and some yellowfin tuna, which we ate. One dolphin was 50 lbs. And it was a cow. I took lots of pictures and had a great time. playa hermosa is just north of playa del coco and just southeast of witches rock, these beaches and tamarindo, playa negra, little hawaii, etc. are all way north of Jaca, more than a couple hours.

Yep, there is a Playa Hermosa way up North, but we were at the one just South of Jaco. Just a 2000 Colones taxi ride away from Jaco. We didnt have any vis, so we did the land stuff. How was your trip Shark Byte? Steve.
