Went out last weekend with UW Hunter and Steve. Seas were great with a 10 knot S wind and vis 30 to 50 feet. Decided to hit the PI sites before we went deeper (glad we did).
Dive 1: Dropped down on some nice bottom to see Steve already stringing a nice Gag in the 20+ range. AJs and small Mangos were seen most of the dive. A Jewfish in the 80# range followed me around part of the dive(I never knew he was even there). Steve comes up with a nice Gag and a 30# AJ.
Dive 2: Went to another productive PI site and Dave suited-up for a solo. Just about the time he was ready to roll the engine buzzer goes off! Long story short engine starts overheating so we have to call Sea Tow. We anchor up and decide to do a few anchor dives while we wait for SeaTow. Ends up being pretty good bottom with lots of small Mangos in the cracks and AJs swimming around. Shot some fish and enjoyed the good seas.....2 1/2 hours later we have a few fish in the box and are getting pulled in by SeaTow. Pics below.

Nice job!!

Sorry to hear about the motor. I lost the powerhead on the Merc three weekends ago  . I was about 33 miles out, and the seatow bill was over 1,400$$$$$. Man I'm so glad that I kept up with the insurance.

Thanks for posting the report. We don't get near enough of these out of Ponce. Nice AJ, what did he weigh?

We plan on heading out of Ponce on Monday for a little slay action..... hopefully the seas will calm down by then.

May be rough on Monday.... Steve shot 2 really nice Gags (30# range) on one of the PI sites last weekend. Most were not loaded, but were still holding fish. Go's have been pretty small on the inside stuff.
Not sure of the weight of the AJ... I'm guessing 60#. We usually don't poke those big ones, hard to cut around the worms. I would'nt even consider shooting one without a PH.
I'll be off work until late July if you guys ever need another diver during the week etc. Let me know.

Great fish. I am glad someone has been out putting fish in the cooler. Is everythin ok with the boat now? We are going to ty to get out monday, it will probably be a traffic jam and all the nuts should be out.

Talked with Dave today and everything is fine with the boat. Must have been something in the intake. Impeller was ok.
Better to be safe and avoid the cost of a new powerhead ($7000)

Those fat Grouper made the trip with it anyway.
