does anyone know what the vis is like in the keys right now

don't know but want to get down there as soon as i can. Anyone planning any trips down there. Im game I free and tank dive and have gear galore and am will clean boat and fish and pay for gas. PM me if you guys need an extra shooter or two. We freedive to 80 but am most comfortable to 50.

if someone wanted to come down, we could find a place to rent a boat for the afternoon. i think there are a few places taht do it for about $125 for an afternoon. split 3 or 4 ways wouldn't be bad. specially since you wouldn't be paying for gas to tow the boat, and probably not to fill the boat.

i live right in marathon and am more than willing to head out for some slingin fun.

When I was out over Labor Day weekend the blue water was very close to American Shoal light. But near shore in about 15 feet the vis sucked. Strong S-SE wind @15 the past few days pushing the upper clear water in.

keyspear, hows the area around summerland key...im going there for the whole july...maybe you can give me a tour...i have my own 21' boat, and my dad has a 39' marlin....if he joins us....

I live a few miles down the road from there.It's all good around here. Warm water, shallow freediving, sometimes there is even fish. Straight south from Summerland outs you about in the Looe Key preserve. Don't check out this area unless you want to be depressed by the lack of fish and lobsters on the rest of the reef. You should be able to find plenty to do to keep you out of trouble this summer.
