Nicolas I hope you have your dive gear with you out there in Guam. There are tons of good fish out there and this time of year is great if you can get offshore.
There are a number of FAD buoys anchored in a few thousand feet of water there that hold Wahoo and Dolphin as well as Yellowfins and Marlin from time to time.
Inshore and on the deep pinnacles you can also get into the Dogtooth Tuna and Giant Trevally if you put the time in. There are some really good spearos that live there that you should try and hook up with if you can. The Borja brothers are the most well known. I've dove all over that place and landed some good fish and wish I could go back there with a boat and about 1000 lbs of chum sometime to shoot some giant Doggies.
I'm in Port Hueneme until the first week of January and believe that is a bit south of Santa Barbara but I'm not sure how far. If you all need another guy to dive with shoot me a PM and we'll see if we can work it out.
Cameron
yeah cameron you are a bit south of me, hour or two depending how one drives. are you leaving in january? I wont be around that area until febuary... bummer, but on a different note I have all my gear on here and are almost finished fixing up a small 14' pos so we can try the FAD bouys this winter!!! hopefully the typhoons leave us alone and we can just kill it out there!! good luck and just remember the islands are right there and if you are military, try san nicolas island  good stuff out there if you can get past the security!

Lolo and Travis,
I used to live in SBarbara and worked w/ Truth Aquatics for 18yrs. One of our clients from San Luis Obispo was pretty big into Free Diving and Spearfishing. Anthony owns and operates SLO Ocean Currents. In my humble opinion he was a great guy and had a passion for the water as well as spearfishing. Although not super close to Buellton or VBA he may be a good resource for trips, or people to dive with. I highly recommend him and his business. If you ever run into him, please tell him I said hello.
Best Regards,
