hey all, i fished Palos Verdes yesterday and today. yesterday, during low tide, i worked the shallow side of the kelp, that's where most of the whites have been taken. The visibility was maybe 10' at best. There was smaller whites working bait and i was only catching glimpes them. Now i know why they are sometimes called "Silver Ghosts." After a couple of hours a school of frantic bait was swimmimg past/around me and 3 whites appeared..... i hurried a shot and missed (they were in the 20#'s) as i was reloading the bait came back and i took about an 8' shot for a 15lbr. Not a monster, but for my first one i won't complain.
Today (Thursday), low tide and hardly any swell. Swam out about 150 yards hoping the water would clear up..... serious plankton bloom, it was like swimming in milk (very cloudy). tried for about an hour and half before giving up.
heading back on sunday and meeting up with al schneppershoff.
anyone interested??
dive safe and kill 'em all.

What up? Good job on the white! Went out on tuesday to La Jolla, my buddy mark shot his biggest yellow ever, 43lbs. 50 inches. Also went thursday, lots of bait but no game fish. hoping for something this weekend.
I also went out on Thurs. late afternoon for an hour. I might have seen you getting in when I was leaving. I saw one but did not get a shot. The area looks good with tons of bait balls. I worked more of the outside but should have been inside from what you shot. I am going today again Sat. for a couple of hours I think. Good luck. Mark

I went out from 4-6:30 and worked really hard for nothing. The current was really going there was some bait but I did not see a WSB. I spoke to a few other guys that went out along with me in the afternoon and they did not see any either. I think that it is a monring thing maybe. On a good note the water was really nice on the outside. I thought about going Sunday but we will see. Hope you get one today. Mark

i went with al schneppershoff this morning. there were alot of boats (some divers, mostly guys fishing) on the outer edge and a few spearos from shore. i met a bunch of guys today but can't remember their names. water was still really murky but like you said, it cleared up drmatically in the deeper water. i think its definately a morning thing, from the guys i have been talking to. apparently someone got a 35 lbr on friday or staurday morning (i think it was rex lopez but not sure). i think i am going to try again tommorrow afternoon around 2 or so. i may head up to malibu later in the week with al and try one of his spots up there. talk with you later. and if you head back to PV lemmie know.

I might go one morning this week. Maybe P.V. or on the boat. I think thats I am going to go out to Catalina or San Clemente Island I really like Clemente I can always find yellows out there and there has been tons out there from what my friend told me. I think that P.V. is going to be a weekday morning thing only for me before work. The weekends are a zoo with people and boats. I had a guy pull within 100 feet of me. I think that I will get out this week though some morning. Let me know what day you are going we could meet down there sometime. Mark

i have everyday this week, except for saturday open to spearfish. i will more then likely try every morning this week. i think the key to getting fish down there is hit it early in the morning and often. i was told that when skip helen got his record WSB from PV he dove 17 days straight!!!!! i am going tomorrow morning (tuesday) so lemmie know and we'll meet up. later.
