i just renovated my 48" gun into a 60" gun. i have a 46" stock, and a 60" shaft.

what do you guys recomend for bands. i figure i would like to have two, but i plan to use the second one only as primary shots, and probably on a single band for most shots after the 1st.

should a pair of 26" bands work fine? or should i go bigger? smaller?

I would say about 20, but it depends on how tight you want the band to be. If the long one isnt tight enough you can just cut it smaller

man i was thinkin maybe a 24...

the 26 is plenty hard to draw back, this is a 60 inch spear remember.

i'm gonna get out this week and test her out.

any other ideas?

I would look around and see what size and length bands the manufacturers are putting on a gun that size and use that information for a starting point.

Distance from muzzle where the rubber sits to last notch on shaft x 2 and the total divided by 3. That should get you a +-300% band stretch which is normal for any quality rubber and a reccomended stretch by many gun builders. Remember wishbone adds total useless length. It doesn't matter where each rubber is placed on the shaft notch ( if more than 1 ), it won't effect accuracy.

how thick are the bands? why not go to thicker main band say 20mm and a 18mm for extra kick on the long shots and when you want less power than the both bands or the 20. If you cut the bands to short youll have worn out bands much quicker. Id use the bands as is till they are broken-in then cut them shorter to maintain maximun hurt.

i had looked at that chart on SS already, and from that chart it recommends a 26" 5/8th band. which is what i have. it seems to be quite a stretch for me to get it to cock. i think any shorter will be too much strain.

i'll find out when i go spearing with it this week (hopefully).
