Was actually running a fishing charter yesterday but I know the guys real good. At slack tide the bite was off but the water was so clear I could see fsih moving around below. Asked if anyone minded if I slipped over for a look while the tide (and the bite) was off. Was 18 feet of water and there were gags and nice hogs EVERYWHERE. Jeez, I was freaking out. Visibility was fantasitc. Could pick targets from the surface. I had a gun stashed in a hatch but NO SHAFT! AHHHHHHH! Figures I guess. I swam around and even moved our marker jug over the the sweet spot where the gags were piled up. When the tide started out, a few handfuls of chum and it was game on. Ended up with 11 keepers, some shorts, macks ect..one cobia. If I were just shootin' it would have been ugly. Was set to run up there after my half day today but of course the wind blew. Grouer trip 2morrow. Gun is stashed and gear will be onboard.

Hey Capt. Ed, welcome to spearboard. I've enjoyed reading your reports in the West Central forum over at FS, and am glad to see you posting here.

Do you ever dive with tanks, or freedive only?

Still havent been back over the side offshore. The vis went to crap the next day with no wind or anything and has remained that way ever since. The fish are still there. Weve caught 39 keepers on the rods in the last week but its just a little ugly for me to swim at the moment. My only run ins with big sharks have been when I couldnt see that good in shallow water. I did go gather 20 stone crabs claws after my trip the other day around some of the rocks out on the flats here in Tarpon. Now my damn arms are so ichy theyre driving me crazy. Guess the scraped the wrong stuff in those holes. Any suggestions?

Try a light bleach and water solution. You must kill the bacteria. Then a good aloe lotion several times a day for a few days.

If that doesn't work... amputation may be an option. Ha!

No seriously, try the bleach.

Welcome aboard cap!
