Break away flaotion system

Hello I have a riffe and want to build a break away I have everthing but the floation for it. Here is my delema I want to have a quality system but I dont want to pay a lot what do I need. I currently have a 30 Qt Cooler with two ISO mats that act a pontoon that are attached to the butt of the gun with a 60 ft teather. I also store my catch with this as I fitted it with a bungee strap to keep it closed. I would have used Duct tape but I was fresh out.
