Holy shit, I just shot one yesterday that was like 10-12#. And I thought I was doing good. I did get the widest variety of grouper I have ever shot. On one dive I got a black, a yellowfin, a red hind, and a rock hind. I'd have to say it was one of the more colorful stringers I have ever pulled up. And because of the tides the vis was like ten feet. Kept seeing a monster tail off in the distance. but could never make out the body for a humane shot. Sorry no photos. The Hinds seemed to be unusually active; does anyone know if they spawn later than the other groupers, or was it the moon phase? Screen name got a mutant sheepshead awhile back; does this happen with Grouper? I got a Black with bright yellow pectorial fin tips, just wondering if it was a half breed or if it is related to diet or something? Really wish I had a camera to take pictures of them, because it was a debate at the marina cleaning table. What's with the strained look on the face? Be happy, those are nice fish. Did you weigh that fish on an official scale because that could be a world record. The Florida record is like 34 lbs.

Nice fish, you look like you're straining pretty hard. Mabye a little extra protein in that pesco-vegetarian diet of yours might do the trick!! You beat my 38#, but I still got you with my 43#;) .

34# is the Florida hook and line record I believe.
