Yesterday it looked like the weather might slack up a little bit, so I
headed up to my favorite ulua hole after work. I gave Jason Marggraf
an e-mail, but he couldn't make it. I also tried to get ahold of
Howard Teas since he is in town, but he didn't call me back until I
was in the water. Shucks. The conditions were not the best, with a
bit of surf on the entry, and enough wind still around to make for a
bitching surface current. However, I got two omilu and one white ulua
and did the usual hike up the cliff in the dark thing.

Oh yeah, did spot a pair of bigger whites in the 50#+ range, but couldn't make it work.

Believe it or not! I was born and raised on Guam, and never knew they had ulua houses till yesterday when my cousin told me they found a couple houses and shot uluas out of em. Usually they are free swimming.

Ulua house locations are often closely guarded secrets! :D

I lot of people like omilu raw as sashimi. I gave away both the omilu and kept the white ulua. When they're under 30# like this one, they're pretty damn good. The fillet knife was white from the fat under the skin.
