i want to start spearfishing while on my surf trips to baja. i would be free diving, are there any suggestions on types of guns to look for? thanks.

Baja has some small, medium, amd LARGE fish to shoot at. If your new to hunting I would not suggest shooting the big ones without having some very expensive equipment and are with someone who has experience hunting palegic fish. Experienced freedivers have died at the tails of these powerful creatures. So never underestimate their stength and determination to get away from you (the hunter). My personal recommendation would be to get 30-40 inch band/pneamatic gun. This will enable you to shoot both small rock fish and calicos. If you going to be hunting on the Mexican side of the border be sure to check fishing regs. I beleive in some places you can't use a gun, only slings. I maybe wrong, but better safe than sorry.
