I figure this topic has been discussed but couldn't find anything on a search. Can anyone tell me where to get an oxygen kit for a decent price? Online, local medical supplier, etc. Thanks.

Along the same lines, is there an adapter out that would allow my stage bottle to constantly deliver 02 like a CPAP or something? basically i want to be able to plug an oxygen mask into my LP port. The stage bottle is great but if I had an unconscious person it would be next to useless with 2nd stages on it.
I followed the link that FredT posted to bird precisions site but I don't really knw what I am looking at from there. So my question still stands if someone can help me out.

You want one of these

FYI --- you can put the second stage in an unconscious persons mouth - hit the purge button just till you see their chest move and release.

Plan on spending around $75 - $100 for a decent setup depending on where you get your supplies.
I've got a couple of, full, "E" bottles, hoses, & canula if anyone is interested.

Bird manufactures precision jeweled orifices. IF you know the flow rate desired, and the input pressure and output pressure as well as the molecular characteristics of the gas being throttled across the orifice a bit of simple fluid dynamics will allow you to calculate the orifice size needed for your application. The advantage of Bird's products is their resistance to corrosion and flow wear, making the unit foolproof for flow control in emergency situations. There is nothing to think about or adjust on the boat when your hormones are going nuts. The disadvantage is you have to know how to do the math to get the right answer up front. There are way too many variables in this equation, and some really BAD results possible if "the answer" is wrong for a particular situation, for me to post "the answer" on an open forum.

Bugged, thank you that is exactly what I was looking for.
FredT, that is exactly what stopped me from even thinking about the math. Definately the way to go otherwise.
GH, that is another option I will look into.

Patrick if your trips are not to far out. I would look into Spearguns setup. All you would need to add would be the demand valve. Although like I said they really are not necc.
I have my 02 system setup just like Chads and Mobile Divers.

The trips I am worried about actually needing it are 40-60 miles out and 130' and deeper. But most of my diving is way more inshore because it will take my boat too much time/gas running that far unless seas are glassy and will remain so all day. I want to be prepared for having to run back into moderate to heavy seas so need oxygen for say 2 divers for 3 hours each.
That thread was a gold mine of info, thanks. I don't think what I had in mind is viable after reading all that. Looks like I'll be acquiring more gear again!

Find an old LP80 then. Any shop will be able to do a full fill.
That is what I use. Got it off Ebay for 42.00 Obviously everything has to be cleaned

Bugged, that's what I recommend for folks. Use an old cylinder and an old reg/regs. Seems to be the best value for the buck. Our charter boat has the DAN O2 kit (4 person model)... there was no lube used with that purchase.

i assembled my oxygen kit without a lot expense i have 2 D cylinders donated by a smoker who didnt need them anymore along with a reg that is adjustable to 25lpm I stopped by a local medical supply house and bought a valve handle, high concentration mask and a single line hose to connect to a pocket mask that was donated by a local lifeguard my case is a pelican that was given to me buy a fireman that is also a diver my total cost in the kit was about 22 bucks.make sure you get a medical reg that will adjust up to 15lpm minimum also dont use a cannular it will not provide enough o2 for treatment of decompression sickness.also take a class that redcross provides it is called oxygen administration for the proffesional rescuer it is a lot cheaper than a dan class and it is just as informative. :thumps:
