just got back to tallahassee last night after spending a week in islamorada with my family. since my friend and i were the only divers on this trip we concetrated mainly concetrated on fishing. the first day we went out to the hump and caught 9 dolphin. 2nd day went tarpon fishing jumped 2, 3rd day went to key west, 4th day i finally got to dive. we dove the eagle in 110fsw my first 100+ foot dive, there were 100 pound tarpon all over the wreck. saw a huge 40+ pound black but couldnt get a shot off. went to the sand and shot my first mutton snapper, a beautiful 9 pounder. as i made my ascent i was chased by a 5 foot barracuda that didnt leave me alone till i poked it with my speartip. later that day i heard someone say that it was illegal to spearfish on the eagle is this true?. day 5 we made 3 dives on the reef. i found an anchor on each dive!! speared 3 16-20 inch hogs.day 6 trolled from alligator light to the hump, caucht 3 nice dolphin and an 8 pound tuna, seas were around 6 ft. before we got to the hump we ran into birds working. ended up catching 66 dolphin and 3 tuna, once we were close to our limit my friend and i jumped into the water and started shooting them with our spearguns ended up getting 4 before we got our limit. it was a great week and i cant wait to go back next year.
