This October I am heading on a very belated honeymoon with my wife. We both get to pick a week somewhere in the world.

Our first stop is going to be Kenya for a 5 day Safari. I am sure that it will be terriffic and we will see lots of animals, but honestly I don't much care for hot/dry deserts and the headache of maleria pills, yellow fever pills etc kinda bums me out. But anyway, that is her ideal honeymoon and I am on board for whatever.

Which brings us to the question, after the sand and dust central africa, where can this kid do some serious soaking to recover?

We are planning on flying home via Australia so between Africa and Australia (including the indian ocean and malasia and all of the island in between) anything is game. And since it is a once in a life time thing (hopefully) I am not too concerned with the price tag but rather the experience. That said I obviously want to dive. I would LIKE to spearfish, but realize that it is not always easy to hunt in different countries and I get that. So it is NOT a requirement, however finding a once in a lifetime underwater experience is. I would really like to hear your suggestions!!!!

Thanks :thumps:

Fiji Islands.

I have to agree. Though... I haven't been there (yet) but have been doing lots of reading about it and while spearing isn't allowed in the Fijiian Islands, the diving experience looks like it'll be awesome.

In fact, there was a recent write-up in the March issue of Scuba Diving magazine. Check out http://www.beqalagoonresort.com/ for an awesome resort! Great pics in their gallery too..

I am pretty sure you can spear in Fiji.

The resort looks great and if there is a way to do a little spearfishing that would make it all the more attractive. Thanks.

Anyone else got any suggestions? Been somewhere incredible? I have Palau in my head as a great diving location, but really don;t know much about it.

Thanks

i have been to palau and that is a trip that is worth the money, sams tours does a good job, and if you ask nice, they can take you spearfishing, the trip out to the dive sites are 45 minutes and if you do go make sure you bring a thin wetsuit for the all the little animals that love to atack you and a rain poncho that you need to shield the rain off you you on the transits. awesome diving, and the napolean rasses are huge!!!! big schools of every fish known to man, and during a certain time of year (cant remember when) you can dive with the whale sharks!!!! lots of ww2 history and the reefs are pristine. visability is unlimited most of the time. i am on guams and here there is excelent diving as well good wreck dives if you like that sort of thing as well as history.
good luck on your choice. ohh and rule out maui diving sucks there.

Fiji has great diving and spearing and lots and lots of sharks. If you are already in Africa go explore Mozambique, Reunion Island, Madagascar or somewhere there before heading to Oz. From Oz just to Fiji or head North to Micronesia(Palau, Yap, Truk, Guam, Saipan...)
Possibilities are endless. Do a Great Barrier Reef Trip when you are in Oz or go down the coast depending on the timeof year and shoot MArlin and big seabass (mulloway) just off some of the prettiest beaches there. Too many places to go... Time of year is important so look at the seasons for each of the places you are considering before so you can get some good fish and Vis. Check out the Wet Dreams video if you want a preview of most of the places we mentioned above. Good luck and have fun!

Send Rick Bettua of Aimrite an email. He has just done the same thing (combining honeymoon with spearfishing). I'm sure he/Angela have done the research and can point you in the right direction.

What ever BlueH2oboy says is pretty much what I go by. He has been everwhere. And what I mean by everywhere is "everywhere".

I know that him and Brad went to Fiji, I met them in Samoa and it was sick.
We shot Doggies and everything else that swam by.

There is reallt too many options, but that is a good problem to have.

I would talk to blueh2oboy about time of year, and what you are looking to do. I guarentee he can come up with something sick.
