The average depth was around 100ft to 150ft. Although the Ling were killed around 20ft. The vis was not good on the top but o.k. after 20ft. Good Diving.......

I personally do not tie my fish stringer to the rig when making those oil platform dives. To me it is too hard to keep up with it. However, when I dive wrecks I sometimes choose to tie my stringer to the bouy line or anchor line. Normally I keep the fish attached to me. Now there have been a few occasions I have placed my stringer on a line because of sharks. Normally if I see a shark I just clip my stringer to the Bouy Line. I've been spearfishing out of Dauphin Island, Alabama for about 5 years now and have only encountered 5 sharks. Never really had a problem with them most of the time. I did place my stringer on the bouy line and watched a Bull Shark eat my fish. It still scares me just thinking about it. Now some spearfisherman say don't feed the sharks, but I say as long as they are occupied with the fish it gives me time to get out of the water. I've heard from some great spearfisherman that they tie there fish to the rig while they are hunting. I have not tried that yet but it sounds like a good idea. Good Diving....
