The excitement of the 2006 Spearboard Open is building. Interest from all over has been expressed, especially from California, Arizona and the Northern States. Some of these spearos are looking for Florida-based buddies to share boats, costs, and experiences. If you have any open slots on your dive teams, either free-diving or scuba-diving, please post here or send me a private message. That is one of the great things about Spearboard: we help Spearos connect with each other. I have heard so many good stories of friends made through this forum. Let's welcome our brothers and sisters from far-away places! :thumps:

I would love to enter too. I will need to coordinate airplane tickets ,car-rental and a place to stay. If anybody has an open spot, I would be more than happy to pay my fair share of the way.
I am kind of on FNG when it comes to spearing. That's just because I haven't had the opportunity to go as much as I would like. Maybe we could cash in on some beginner's luck. :thumps: I am self-sufficient, when it comes to diving and would be more than happy to pull my fair share of the weight on the trip. And even boat cleanup after the trip.

does anyone need a charter boat to go to the grounds? There are 2 open spots. He is only taking 4 passengers because he wants to dive hard. Leaving the night(or afternoon) before. If interested p.m. me.

Still thinking about signing up, but not sure as I am still learning the area... I have a very nice 19' long 8 1/12 wide CC boat that I have had 30 miles offshore (east side) before... It would be a good boat for up to 3 divers.... I am a freediver but re-certing scuba in April sometime... PM me if anyone wants to hook up.... Cruises at 34mph and sips the fuel with a 4 stroke... 60 gal tank....

I'm thinking about entering the SBO. Anyone have any advice on what is the best area to fish and/or charter boat information for that area?

Welcome to Spearboard Killing Time! I see that is your first post and a very good question it is. If you have not watched it yet, please check out the advice of Dan MacMahon (2004 winner) presented in the video described at this thread:

Then, you should analyze your current situation in terms of your personal knowledge and experience. Ask yourself where can you maximize those categories of fish and realize you don't have to have super big fish to rank very high on the aggregate scoring. It may be best to hunt in your home turf or try to use the buddy search to hunt in another area where you may not have local knowledge. In the coming weeks, we will post more "Winning Strategies" videos.

We have space available on a 46' Hatteras. If you read our posts today, please excuse our mistake about the date. We are thinking the tourn is this coming weekend, sorry about the mistake. We just brought the boat to Tierra Verde from Destin, love to dive and spear, so let us know if you know good divers who we can depend on. Thanks...

Finally had a chance to get my schedule cleared up and I can get the time to dive the SBO. I have a 31 contender that makes for a good dive platform and she can hustle there and back if we want to beat ourselves up, but it is a pain to trailer over from Palm beach co. and I have never dove the MGs, so wouldn't know where to go. If we can get a team together to split costs and the expertise to put her on fish, i will consider trailering her over.
Otherwise, I am looking for a spot on a boat.

Thank you for the welcome Spear Max! I checked out the video. It did a great job of explaining the rules and stressing safety.
It sounds like the middle grounds are the place to hunt. Can anyone recommend a good charter boat and what ports do they depart?

Still Seeking a ride. Would really like to hit the Grounds but looks like that may be impossible this late in the game and I am even having a nhard time find a charter to go out now that I waited so long to set something in stone.
Anyways, if anyones goin out please dont hesitate to call/PM me. Hell, you can even just keep me as a back up if someone dont show up ya can call me and I WILL be there.
Thanks
