sorry but i'm not a member of the Delmarva spearfishing club. and what is the CBBT? yes there are a few of us here in the National Capital Region, a few of you posted on the thread I started on the buddy network. But any way I'm back and will be ready to dive at the end of the month. Are you all are freedivers?

I freedive and scuba. Prefer freediving. Will be tied up until mid-May but then lookout. You don't have to be a Delmarva club member to spearfish the breakwater, but it is freediving only if sparfishing there. CBBT = Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel near Norfolk.

I strictly freedive, at least so far. Probably about the middle of next month we will start hitting the Bay Bridge Tunnel near Norfolk (CBBT). The Delmarva Spearfishing Club is out of Ocean City and we spear every first and third Sunday of the month from May thru October. I can send you the e-mail of our club POC if you have an e-mail address.

cool me too, I have two more pieces of equipment to get; that's dive weights, and a smaller gun. I will do that this week end then I will be ready. anyway sounds good on hitting the CBBT for the spearfishing agenda. Is the club any fun, would you have to go to meetings and stuff? also what about fishing licenses? I want to be legal.

Well, we started the club last year, but I didn't go at all, but this year looks much better - I will be going to all of "meetings", as far as I can see, and they're always on Sundays out of OC. These meetings are what they should be, from what I read - spearing and slaying fish :} You will need a MD tidal water fishing license (I think).

You do not need a license for tidal salt water in MD except the chesapeake Bay. The Delmarva Spearfishing Club has taken the name Ocean City Spearfishing Club so as to avoid confusion they are not two separate clubs. It would just be for a day, and if we go it'll be early Saturday morning and returning to DC Saturday afternoon sometime. The guys on the Tidalfish board (www.tidalfish.com, under the "spearfishing & diving" message board section) and myself have been talking about it. Supposedly they've been cleaning up on tog, and the spades might be there by now. We'll also hopefully get a report on the flounder activity around the area. I'll know for sure later this week.

The only weekend I'm can't dive is 20 and 21st of May. Air show weekend at Andrews AFB, where I work. Any other weekend is good.

Bergo, back from the dead, man. I'll be back up in Jersey this weekend, and spearing for flounder on Saturday, if all goes well. As far as next weekend, we ought be to diving somewhere. I just checked the regs for MD saltwater, and I'm not sure if we can spear any fish out of Ocean City or not until June. I'm going to e-mail Eric the club leader and ask him where everyone will be sure. But, it won't be until the third Sunday of May for me now. For OC it's always the first and third Sunday of the month. Maybe the Breakwater or CBBT next weekend.

Bergo, beers for sure next weekend over at Pentagon City. Trident, if you can join us, by all means. Bajan, if you're out there, join forces for suds.

Was thinking about going up to dutchsprings quarry in PA to do some freedive training. 100ft deep and nice place to work on your BT. Plus good camping- i.e. beers and steaks.

Had a great trip. Thanks for your insights, Martin. I did not get to go out fishing or offshore diving but my friends did their OW checkouts (through Rogers Scuba Shack) and I got some very nice pix. We did a little scuba two days and freedove every other day off the beach. Made it to the outer reef a couple of day...at least a half mile swim each way. Will post some when I get a window of opportunity. We already made reservations to go back next year. We were in the first house south of Lord's Castle on the water. Coral Pointe.
