Any divers around? PM me. Have boat will travel.
03-30-2006, 10:46 AM
I'm up here in Alexandria. If you're in Fredericksburg, drop me a PM. There are a couple of other spearos up here in the DC area too.
04-18-2006, 04:00 PM
I'm here in Waldorf MD just out side DC. I have been off the board a while and just noticed my thread dropped off. Any way just making contact to say you can throw my spear in to the ring and count me in for some dives.
04-18-2006, 05:59 PM
Cool. I'm up here in Alexandria VA, Trident, and there are at least a couple of divers outside DC and near Annapolis on this board - Flying Bajan and MJacobs, are you out there?
Hope to be hitting the CBBT next month for the season opener, you're welcome to join us. Are you in the Delmarva Spearfishing Club, by chance?
04-19-2006, 05:36 PM
sorry but i'm not a member of the Delmarva spearfishing club. and what is the CBBT? yes there are a few of us here in the National Capital Region, a few of you posted on the thread I started on the buddy network. But any way I'm back and will be ready to dive at the end of the month. Are you all are freedivers?
04-20-2006, 08:12 AM
I freedive and scuba. Prefer freediving. Will be tied up until mid-May but then lookout. You don't have to be a Delmarva club member to spearfish the breakwater, but it is freediving only if sparfishing there. CBBT = Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel near Norfolk.
04-20-2006, 12:24 PM
I strictly freedive, at least so far. Probably about the middle of next month we will start hitting the Bay Bridge Tunnel near Norfolk (CBBT). The Delmarva Spearfishing Club is out of Ocean City and we spear every first and third Sunday of the month from May thru October. I can send you the e-mail of our club POC if you have an e-mail address.
04-20-2006, 05:22 PM
cool me too, I have two more pieces of equipment to get; that's dive weights, and a smaller gun. I will do that this week end then I will be ready. anyway sounds good on hitting the CBBT for the spearfishing agenda. Is the club any fun, would you have to go to meetings and stuff? also what about fishing licenses? I want to be legal.
04-21-2006, 01:01 PM
Well, we started the club last year, but I didn't go at all, but this year looks much better - I will be going to all of "meetings", as far as I can see, and they're always on Sundays out of OC. These meetings are what they should be, from what I read - spearing and slaying fish :} You will need a MD tidal water fishing license (I think).
04-21-2006, 11:54 PM
Just checking in... lets kill some fish soon fellas :-)
04-23-2006, 05:57 PM
Potentially heading down to the CBBT next Saturday, man - are you flying that day?
04-23-2006, 09:21 PM
Mako, My schedule looks good for the weekend. When will you know if you'er going to heading out? and is it just a day trip?
04-23-2006, 09:30 PM
You do not need a license for tidal salt water in MD except the chesapeake Bay. The Delmarva Spearfishing Club has taken the name Ocean City Spearfishing Club so as to avoid confusion they are not two separate clubs. This Club is open and informal we kill fish and have as much fun as we can. E-mail Eric Sackett to be added to club E-mails. email@example.com
04-24-2006, 09:14 AM
It would just be for a day, and if we go it'll be early Saturday morning and returning to DC Saturday afternoon sometime. The guys on the Tidalfish board (www.tidalfish.com, under the "spearfishing & diving" message board section) and myself have been talking about it. Supposedly they've been cleaning up on tog, and the spades might be there by now. We'll also hopefully get a report on the flounder activity around the area. I'll know for sure later this week.
I did hear from Eric on the club, and at least Flying Bajan and myself will see you guys the third Sunday in May, man. Now that he's got a Rob Allen gun, I may have to get even par with him :}
04-24-2006, 05:40 PM
Sounds good, I will PM you with my contact data so we can link up for the trip.
04-24-2006, 08:51 PM
Sounds good, Trident, let's make a plan.
Bajan, I'll give you a call this week to see what your schedule is. Season opener, man!
04-24-2006, 10:41 PM
Cool Dude, I'll be working on next Sat for sure though... Sucks !!!
04-25-2006, 08:36 AM
That's this Saturday, the 29th, I'm talking about, bro. Are you working?
04-26-2006, 06:14 PM
Sorry I missed your call, I was in a meeting. I am cool with this weekend or the next. Just call or hit the PM when you want to link up for a dive.
04-26-2006, 09:11 PM
No doubt, man. I'll be back home at the Jersey Shore spearing flounder next weekend, but the weekend after that, second weekend in May, looks better - Breakwater or CBBT, we'll see.
Bajan, you down for that?
04-27-2006, 05:08 PM
The only weekend I'm can't dive is 20 and 21st of May. Air show weekend at Andrews AFB, where I work. Any other weekend is good.
04-27-2006, 05:26 PM
That weekend we are actually going to Ocean City, but the Saturday before that (13th) we ought to be going to the CBBT or the Breakwater.
04-28-2006, 09:47 PM
That sounds good, i'm getting hungry!
05-03-2006, 02:09 PM
Back on. Did someone say diving? Busy this weekend but free most of May.
05-03-2006, 04:50 PM
Bergo, back from the dead, man. I'll be back up in Jersey this weekend, and spearing for flounder on Saturday, if all goes well. As far as next weekend, we ought be to diving somewhere. I just checked the regs for MD saltwater, and I'm not sure if we can spear any fish out of Ocean City or not until June. I'm going to e-mail Eric the club leader and ask him where everyone will be sure. But, it won't be until the third Sunday of May for me now. For OC it's always the first and third Sunday of the month. Maybe the Breakwater or CBBT next weekend.
Bergo, beers for sure next weekend over at Pentagon City. Trident, if you can join us, by all means. Bajan, if you're out there, join forces for suds.
Keep checking the board here, fellas.
05-04-2006, 08:53 AM
Cool Men, keep me posted and I'll see if I can dodge out of work to dive on the weekend. Gimme as much notice as you can though please.
Always down to hit a few beers after work anytime though :-)
05-04-2006, 03:29 PM
Beers! count me in, here in Pentagon City? I don't make in there much.
05-04-2006, 05:02 PM
Was thinking about going up to dutchsprings quarry in PA to do some freedive training. 100ft deep and nice place to work on your BT. Plus good camping- i.e. beers and steaks.
05-04-2006, 06:18 PM
Freedive training? How far as that quarry from here?
Bergo, Bajan, Trident - I'm on the night shift here for the next couple of weeks, so how about this - next Saturday night the 13th we all meet at Sine in Pentagon City for beers at least and make our spearing plans? And maybe we can do some actual spearing somewhere next Sunday, too, the 14th, if you guys are down.
05-06-2006, 10:28 AM
Sine in Pentagon City for beers, sounds good. what time?
05-08-2006, 07:31 PM
How about 9PM? My cell number is 202-812-1560. Bergo, Bajan, you guys in?
05-08-2006, 09:25 PM
If I don't go to do some freediving up at dutch- sure I could be convinced to have a beer or ten.... since I own a mug at that fine establishment I feel obligated to contribute.
05-09-2006, 06:01 PM
9PM on the 13th, I'm in! see you all there.
05-09-2006, 08:10 PM
You own a mug there, Bergo? I guess I'll have to one up you on that one now.
Trident and hopefully Bergo and Bajan, catch ya there around 9PM, fellas. Call my cell around 9 that night so we can find each other amongst the Guiness and lasses :}
05-15-2006, 03:24 PM
I just got back from Barbados a week ago. Might post some pics if there's interest. Any of you guys want to do a little freedive practice at Lake Rawlings Saturday or Sunday? I'll be there both days.
05-15-2006, 03:39 PM
I wish I could, but I'm working this weekend.
05-15-2006, 08:05 PM
How was the trip to B'dos. Hope you had a good one.
This weekend is looking dodgey for me, but I'll see what develops.
ps. I'd still like to try on that suit you mentioned you might want to sell.
05-15-2006, 08:06 PM
I'll be back up in Jersey this weekend again, and will be hopefully be spearing some up there. Let me know the next time you go, Mark.
Go ahead and post those Barbados pics, man. We'll make Bajan nice and homesick :O
05-16-2006, 07:37 AM
Had a great trip. Thanks for your insights, Martin. I did not get to go out fishing or offshore diving but my friends did their OW checkouts (through Rogers Scuba Shack) and I got some very nice pix. We did a little scuba two days and freedove every other day off the beach. Made it to the outer reef a couple of day...at least a half mile swim each way. Will post some when I get a window of opportunity. We already made reservations to go back next year. We were in the first house south of Lord's Castle on the water. Coral Pointe.
05-16-2006, 08:43 AM
Sent you a PM, Martin.
