Is this a freedive or tank dive contest ?

You can do either one, most people do it on SCUBA though.

Sheri shot most of the 2005 SBO on scuba, but also shot a few fish freediving.

For some species and locations a freediver might have an edge, but for others scuba may clearly be superior. Sheri is a master of both techniques.

7 points is a huge spread in a tournament of this caliber! Notice that the rest of the field, of very able shooters, is mostly 2 or less points apart.

I met Sheri on a Middle Grounds scuba trip that I ran in 2002, and she freeshafted a boat-load of fish! I've been spearing for 34 years, and yet I learned some spearing tricks from her that have since worked on scuba and while freediving.

This past Friday she shot a healthy stringer in the FSDA State Freediving tournament and the largest sheepshead at 6.9 lbs. http://www.spearboard.com/showthread.php?t=28411

Good luck to everyone in this years SBO!

Hmm...looking at Tony's post, looks like there is potential there for some heavy duty betting. Which team will get the biggest fish (category), overall winning boat, etc... Shame there isn't a bookie that can set that up, would be fun! :D

Thanks for sharing I read of her often, but never watched any videos. She's a natural born Huntress

Seahuntress, it was my pleasure to share that video. In my opinion, the more women like you that get into Spearfishing, the better! :thumps: Sheri's success has definitely encouraged many women I know to go out into the wild blue and kill fish. Thanks for your comment.

Apparently, March 10th is a good day for huntresses to be born. From this board alone, you, Sheri and Swimsuit Whore all share the same birthday.

Isn't that amazing March 10...for these Huntress's.

I never got into Tournaments. To me its just the sport that I love so much, And the challenge of finding the "Big One"s AJ's and Saul Snappers. and putting meat on the table...and not really the trophy fish photo's

I do have some nice photos, but they were taken with some HUNTERS that you wouldn't want to let of of a cage.

Bridge Harbor Marina has been wanting me to enter, and I may do that this year at Captain Waldos. Anyway its a new year, so I need some new photos, taken with some HUNTERS that you would be proud to photograph with. :p :p :p

Sheri enjoyed the video, great info...
After first going with the Biggs crew last year and observing the event, this year my Aunt and Uncle are flying out just to watch the fun...all the way from Oregon!
and now I know where the beautiful vase went...the prizes are amazing at this event.
I look forward to meeting more of the divers and hearing your stories, learning more about the sport you all enjoy so much.
I also read about the great fundraiser and event you have put together after Nations, you are an inspiration.
