I'm looking to power up a 14 foot fiberglass bay boat and I'm kicking around all the possibilities. 2 vs 4 stroke, yam vs honda vs evinrude vs merc. I'd like to keep the weight lower and the price too, but I want to keep it for 20 years so I'm not afraid to spend if I need to. The 2 stroke 25 yam tiller with short shaft at ~160lb and under 3k seems to be what I'm leaning towards now. Are the 4 strokes worth the extra $, and do they have much less hole shot? Any thoughts are appreciated. TIA

I have a new tiller 4 stroke 25 yami for sale. Probably about 5 hours on it if that. I thought it would be worthwile to have a little boat to mess around in, but I just find myself on the bigger boat so much more often.

I have the 4 stroke Yam 25 and absolutley love it. Its on a J16 carolina skiff.

The hole shot is crappy but are you flats fishing? It is heavier and I have a buddy w/ a Yam 2strk that he absolutley loves. I run my boat 2-5 times a week and have had the motor for about 4 years now. Love it.

take care of it and it will take care of you

Please post/send details. I wasn't thinking of buying for several months, but I could buy sooner if I find a good deal. crandalldc@aol.com
