Recently I have had to make some sacrifices to the fishing gods, namely shafts. In the past I would just go to my LDS and pick up another shaft and be on my way. But I found Ray Oder's site and for the same length shaft, I could buy two from Ray + shipping, for what I would pay for one here.
I recieved my shafts today and I noticed something. On his site he lists all JBL shafts as 5/16, no matter the length. I didnt think anything of it figuring that they all came in one size. But it appears that the shafts I recieved are smaller than what I have used in the past, possibly a 3/8 shaft, I never paid that much attention to it. I ordered 60" x 5/16. Does JBL make a 60"x 3/8" ? Does anyone know? Or am I just losing my marbles over here?
On another note, if what I think is true, how will this affect my shots. The gun originally came with three 1/2" bands, but I now use two 5/8 " bands. Will the smaller shaft size and alternate bands have an effect on the performance of the gun? Everything appears to look like it should all work out OK, but was wanting to satisfy my mind before I pulled up on a big fishy next time out.
