I know this guy in guam, he is an alright spearo, says that he can dive 100+ with his buddy. Heck they even have a boat that you can use if you get to know them. of course the boat is a "guam bomb" meaning that the boat was found with a tree growing out of it in a backyard was put on a custom made 4x6 wood trailer and painted ship grey. has no navigation lights or anything to save your ass for that matter, and the transom is held together with filler foam. But neverless the boat runs with a motor found in the grass on the side of the road!!! but hey, if you find the guys you will be amazed at thier ability to find all fish less than 3 pounds and stories of landing a marlin that was bigger than the boat!!! good luck to you and look for me. I am the only guy at ricks reef that can still shoot a full stringer while all the other freedivers come back with nada!!
Hafa adai!!

I recently moved from guam back to florida and used to spear all the time. Chances are if you surf ricks we've seen each other. If you don't know him already, look up Robbie Cabreza. One of the top divers on the island as well as one of nicest guys you will meet. He's dove on team guam many years and won micronesian games a few years ago. James borja is also a good guy and great diver, but he is pretty tight with his dive buddy's...we always talked about diving together but it never happened in three years. John Bray is a good guy...ret navy married to local/philapina girl. John has a nice new 18 foot whaler I believe and lives down south I think. If you ever see an 18 sea pro called "tropical anesthesia" that was mine, but the guy who bought it may have changed name. I did alot of bluewater spearing off the fads and got lots of mahi, ono, and even hit a marlin but didn't land it. I wish I had a more consistant team to hit the fads with routinely while I was there....oh yea, and now "lonefin" Troy Williams lives out there. He is probably the only guy who freedives and plays water polo and has one leg. He can probably out shoot/dive most of the guys on the island. He is haole but has been in far east/guam/saipan for many years and fits in pretty well. Lonefin shot a 30 lb ono off one of the northern fads for his first fish in guam about 3 mo ago. I miss the beautiful water and people (except for a few choice local surfers-ie Ray F.-) If you speak to Troy, John, Robbie, or James pass along my hello. Oh yea, you may recognize the background in my avatar...Sumay

I'm a chamorro, born spearfishing our oceans of Guam. There are alot of good spots to fish, just Guam's been hit alot so fish are not that abundant. It's nice to rack it up everynow and then but us locals need to enforce preservation as well. Anyways, James Borja's a cool guy to talk to about spearfishing Guam. He has Team Guam set for this summers Micro games. Good luck...esta

Nice fish, especially sweetlips. I can't tell from the pic on right due to lighting...is it a tagafe (sp?)/red snapper (with the white spot near tail)? If so, did you eat it...when I was there I was told by the guys at the coop that the red snapper almost always hit + for ciguatera (after i had eaten about 4 of them with my family and luckily had no toxins!).

its a snapper, and yes we were told about the ciguatera and sold the fish to a guy that tested it. I dont know if it "popped" or not.

Hey everyone. I am new to spearboard, Guam and spearfishing in general. i just came from North Florida and i had a good ol' pole spear while i was out there but there was so many rules the only real way to go spearfishing was from a boat. needless to say i dont have one. i just got a small spear gun and i am looking for some pointers, i already have a better gun in the works i want a good woody but i am not sure yet. Any ideas please PM me or reply.
