i will be in panama in 2 weeks is it legal to spearfish on scuba or is it free diving only? any contacts from people on locations or charters would help thanks.

Only freediving is allowed in Panama.
There are great places in both coasts, but te Pacific one has bigger fishes.

There are a couple of charters for spearfishing there.

thanks but i have to change the trip to honduras my niece can't get a visa in time for panama. being married to a foreginer i begain to realize how lucky i am to be able to travel almost anywhere without having to get visas. But since i married a foreginer i still have to go through the hassles now.(sucks)

Honduras is very good too, but no charters that I know there.

There are a nice video of Joseba Kerejeta a spanich spearo that was fishing there, very good. The video says that it is in Mexico, but a recent article in one of the spearfishing magazines in Europe sais I was really filmed in Honduras.

Have you read of Joseba's Travels in the Euro Diving Magazine's? They are awesome. He is a friend of my Dive buddy Oskar from Spain. He gives me all the inside scoups. REALLY cool... He showed me some video from Panama also with Joseba and 2 others, really cool.

Joseba is a great guy, he travels all the world fishing, but he changes a lot of sponsors. He used to be sponsored by Cressy and now by Spora. Look at this video http://www.larompiente.com/download/videojoseba.wmv
and check that the wetsuit is a Marea with Sporasub stickers on it.

He was on Venezuela some time ago, and he went fishing with my partners there and the guy really has a six sense for fishing.

do you know where the spearing charters are in panama? i am heading to panama and central america in a few months and looking to do some spearing and surfing...
