You might need a wet suit, depends on how deep you go. I got certified in Lake Ouacita, it gets kind of cold below the termacline.

Sounds like you live south of Hot Springs, AR. Is that where you are getting certified? I was born and raised in the fine state of AR. I miss the rivers and the mountains. There are some beautiful lakes there also. I wouldn't give up the warm shallow reef of south florida now though, but it sure is nice to visit up your way occasionally.

I live in Pearcy in the Lake Hamilton school dist. I am getting certified through the scuba and archery shop. Steve is the instructor. I may eventually get a wet suit but now that summer is upon us it will prolly wait till next year. Though mos fish are shot in relatively shallow water. Rarely past 30ft.

I dive a zeagle ranger if ti were up to me I would trade it for a zeagle stiletto instead it is much more suited for spearing plus you dont need that much lift in my opinion. get a stiletto if your going to spear

I wouldn't mind eventually getting a zeagle but I got a heck of a deal on the cressi.

What do you spear in the lakes of Arkansas? It is illegal to spear or even have a speargun in or near fresh water here in Florida.

You can spear in any lake in Arkansas. Lake Quachita is really beautiful. With all the islands....kinda has the look of Hawai, and you can island hop too. The water is very clear. I was very impressed with it....Beautiful place to be.
As pretty as it is...I'm still a salty girl...maybe because I grew up on the coast. I still prefer my Rig Diving, and the current....keeps my legs strong.

When I lived there I had just learned to dive and was not a spearo yet. It is a beautiful place though. I will be in the state this summer, hope to float some of the rivers.

Lake Ouachita is a great place to be. It takes me about 20 minutes to hook up my boat, drive to Brady Landing and launch the boat. You will find me on the lake much of the time from now til up into October. Vis runs from 5' in really cruddy conditions, to 35' in great ones and the points, islands, and submerged humps are good hunting locations. We even have some "wreck diving" spots, but I have never seen any decent fish on the cars, schoolbus, or old bass boats out there. I am chomping at the bit for the 17th and the big spearfishing tournament!!

Hell YEAH on the June 17! Im still uncertain on goin though. It all depends on if I can get a motor for my boat by then. Cuz I dont wanna spend 25$ and risk it to shore diving. Although I do know of a certain spot to pull out some big drum from the shore.....
