Since it is illegal to shoot freshwater game fish in Texas does anybody shoot nongame species. If so, what/where/when (I'm not a cyber game warden)? Thanks

Too risky to answer, but those tail-shafted largemouths put up a hell of a fight!

Hunted for flathead, bull, yellow and mud catfish and carp in OK and ARk, If I remembrer correctly you are limited to and buffalo and carp in Tx. Low vis and VERY limited target species makes for excellent practice on fish ID and snap shooting.
We also hunted turtles in some private lakes, but that was as a vermin control thing.
Carp and buffalo are even etable if prepared properly. BBQ turtle is pretty good too!:D
