water was calm with good vis. 8'-10'
Shot him/her at high slack @ 650am out of a school of fish that I estamated to be 18-20 lbs. Guess I just got lucky enough to have the bigger one swim a little too close. weighed in at 29.5
Hawk- i have heard that the piers at the base hold some nice fish. looks like you may have access to such fish.? i don't know what security is like regarding that situation but it may be something you want to check out???

FDN,
Nice fish for so early in the season. Would you mind giving us the exact location where you found that fish?
Anne got two yesterday, biggest was 40", estimated 25LB.
I guess the bass are back.

Base security is pretty tight. They don't want you swimming from the base or kayaking from anywhere other than the marina. If they see you too close, security will call the coast gaurd (at least in the winter, I don't know if security ramps up during the higher boat traffic months). I moved here in August of last year. From all accounts the space between the bridge and the base will get you some quick attention. Does anyone know if that area really belongs to the Navy or not?

Chauggie-
I put the kayak in at ledge rd. and paddled to the right. or was it the left? anyway, there was a lot of water around and some rocks. quite a few sea gulls and some seaweed. It was near an old bass stand, like the ones the old timers used to stand on and fish. To tell you the truth, my memory isnt as good as it once was, i doubt I could find my way back.

Nice fish.. great to see the trees are green, and the bass are showing up. I make anual trips back to ri/mass every year, and would like to get a couple of those fish. Here is a pic of a wsb I shot a few weeks ago.. it was 32 pounds.
