Our Washington DC area group was thinking of heading up to RI this summer or early fall for some spearing. This might be the opportunity.

I don't know about the picasso meet, however there is a charity meet on Sept. 9th to raise money for children with growth deficiencies. It is held in Newport, RI

I went to the Hannah Grace Meet last year and the prizes were really great. I ended up with two prizes, a book and a $100 gift certificate to West Marine. Not bad for spending thirty bucks. Others got some really nice stuff, spearguns, charters, etc. The meet has a good format. Go anywhere you want to hunt, then weigh in the biggest bass or tautog. Give it a try!!

JPS,
September 9. Register at King's Beach 8-9 AM or pre-register. The weigh in will be at King's Beach at 4 PM. I think this will become one of my favorite meets. I like the fact you can go anywhere to get fish. The two winners last year got fillet knife sets in wooden boxes with the victory noted in Brass.

JPS-
I will put up a post regarding the Hannah Grace meet very soon. If you get a chance check out our website: www.hannahgrace.org

it needs a little updating but I think the general info is up there. Chauggie has the info down there. Hunt anywhere, 2 catagories ( biggest bass / biggest tautog), weigh-in I think we moved up to 3pm but I have to double check. Plus there is a raffel at the weigh in and 100% of the money raised goes to The MAGIC Foundation.
(non-profit organization helping adults and children with growth disabilities)

MAKO- there have been some nice fish around. in the last 2 weeks we have taken fish from 20-40lbs. September is always the best though! (imo)

Freedive,

We went out this weekend down in Ocean City MD, and conditions turned to hell the night before - heavy SW winds, so no viz and heavy current. Not good...

If thats the case and I like the Picasso Open, I'll make it up for the Hannah Grace meet.

Roger keeps telling me that its out of control up there.
