View Full Version : Florida Boy tags along on Slay Ride

I was trying to sleep, but after just looking over all these pictures, the tramatizing images of 85+lb Cobia swimming away have returned. If only a certain someone could shoot straight from the deck of the boat.....

Last weekend I spent a day out on Slay Ride on the way back from Georgia. It was a wonderful adventure and some great diving. First thing in the morning, we tried a little bit of freediving as well as throwing spears from the deck of the boat, but apparently I was having an off day and just gave warning shots. I did better on some deep drops with the tanks on, but still couldn't roll any of the big ones and had to spend my second dive gaffing a 30lber out of a hole.

Everyone put some nice gags and scamps in the boat over the course of the day. Rob was the only one who found any hogs though, and Big Jason got in on the shallow stuff to school everyone on catching lobster.

Thanks again for the trip and tanks Les and Rob, I hope to do it again sometime.

I spent more time straightening shafts on the deck of the boat, then on my first 3 drops. A 30 and change and a 40 and change

Wicked trip guys.Jaw you shoot alot of awfully nice fish!Looks like a awesome trip on the sly ride.I.ll be shooting up that way in early August.Awesome pics,The slay ride always produces.

Christ, who is the guy on the left and what is he, like, 8 ft tall? Rob is not a short guy and he's being dwarfed!

He is not standing on a cooler. Thats Jason, Goes by skinneeJ on the forums here and at www.CharlestonDiving.com.

I am 6'2 He is 6'9 and has about a 2' reach advantage over me which sucks being he is my sparring buddy. If i ever have to fight a giant I'll be ready.


Jaw, good to have you onboard. Too bad on the Cobia.

We shot some nice fish. JAW you did very well. Good to have you on the boat. Sorry I haven't responded here, I'm been up to my eyeballs in work and getting ready for more epic adventures.

And yes, Skinnee is a MIGHTY big boy. Funny as all can be when he's not sleeping on the boat. He really did well with the big lobstas.

I have NO idea where the big hogs have dissapeared to. No idea.

Looks like a great trip guys . Very very nice gags . If ol' skinnee there is 6'9" then those bugs are pretty dang big too.
