Can anyone provide any information on spearing or lobstering?I'm headed that way for 10 days on the 21st. Is it possible to spear or lobster from shore? If not what should I expect to pay a panga to do so? Thanks for any information offered.

lobster are illegal for us in mexico, only the commercial guys can take them. i've heard you can set up a panga in pv for around $50/ hr or ~$300/ day. this guy kurt is supposed to be really good w/ spearfishers (i'm not affiliated and haven't fished w/ him)

No fish? I got married there last year and there was plenty, both fishing and diving, and you'll be there for the prime fishing. Just remember that you want a trip OUTSIDE the bay which is a pretty good run. Anything inside the bay is a waste of time. A private panga for the day was around 300 usd. You also may catch the beginning of the Humpback calving season in the bay. The whales are pretty cool to watch, especially the mother's w/ a playful newborn calf. Man, I looked real hard and asked around the marina for a spearing outfit and never had any luck. That is what you want to do though, is go to the fishing vessel marina, (across from the bullfighting arena), and barter a trip from the dock instead of paying someone a commission to do the same thing for you.

There is several places that you can contact for a charter but you are better off driving upto punta de mita and finding a panga charter there. The places that you might want to dive are corbetena or The BANCO, great for pelagic fish Tuna, wahoo, mahi, and the biggest cuberas you can imagine.
