Greetings,
My name is Clayton Williams and I am a Texan who recently relocated to Southern California. I am 25, live in Mission Viejo, Work in Commercial Real Estate, and have a girlfriend who is quickly losing interest in watching me swim around and shoot fish.
That is where you come in. I need to meet people who also enjoy diving, scuba, spearfishing, and would likely be considered hooligans by the masses. I've tried to make my existing friends into fans of diving, scuba, and spearing, but this is a costly undertaking that has ended for the most part in waisted time and effort.
Its hard to explain to people that they need to spend a minimum of $1,000 on gear, stay up late studying fish ID charts, and practice breathing exercises in their office so that they can get up early and go try to shoot fish. I'd rather just find people who understand that the age old war between man and fish rages on in daily battles where only we can make a difference. If you are of like mind please PM me. Otherwise, go headbutt your mom.

49 views.....0 replies....Dammit! I suck! Sorry I was I rude. I was just joking about your mom and the boat....I really do want to meet some people to spearfish and dive with though. I should have thought about not sounding like a jackass when talking to people who I am asking to get in the water with spearguns. I am actually pretty reasonable. C'mon, give me a chance.

You mentioned scuba and spearfishing, and that might have something to do with the poor response. Most spearfishing out here is done by freedivers. You can do well on halibut and calico bass on scuba, but our more desirable species, yellowtail and in particular white sea bass, don't like bubbles very much. Since the majority of spearfishermen are freedivers, they might not thing that they have much in common with you.

i personally thought the "go headbutt your mom" line was hilarious! Unfortunatley, I do not live in California......

So my original thread to meet some spearfishing buddies seemed broadcast that I scuba spearfish. I don't. I mentioned scuba because i like doing it, but not when I am hunting. So get off your high horses.

Clayton ~ Loved the creativity in your thread. It definitely caught my eye in the "New Posts" section. Hopefully some hooligans will take you up on it.. :) If they don't, well, you can always "go headbutt your mom...."

(P.S. Permission to use your quote!?!)
