I just moved back to the area. I grew up here and moved away for 2+ years. 2 weeks ago I was in the OBX and got a brief look into snorkeling. Now, I really want to get into free divng and spearfishing. I am not one of those fools to just jump into not knowing what I am doing. Is there any place around VA Beach to buy used gear (guns, fins, pole spears). Is there any place to shore dive close to VA Beach. I know lynnhaven inlet is dangerous on the tide changes, but how is the diving there? How wuold a pole spear work out there? I have lots of questions and lots of ignorances to this sport.

Loop Wing, probably not, but did I happen to talk to you on the beach? Fella asked me the same questions. I was spearfishing with a buddy, both have red hair?

Yep, same guy. I saw a post by you the other day, but thought naw can't be the same guy. Thanks for telling me about this site. Very cool. I did not get by the OMER shop today, probably tomorrow. I am out job hunting right now and all over VA Beach. So did you ever get anything off that wreck?

Hey I used this post today too. The address given up above is the omer warehouse/distributor. I walked in there and the kind gentleman informed me that Mark was at Dive Quarters dropping off some product. I drove up there in time to meet Mark face to face. He's a really great guy and definitely good for leads on some outtings. I can pm you his e-mail addy if you would like. Dive Quarters also seems to be a "hang out" as well. Apparently they jump in the pool a lot to test fire guns, watch videos, practice, and just talk story there regularly. I'm getting stoked about the prospect of wearing a wetsuit and shooting off some shafts again! Just need the right spot and right conditions and a partner or two.

A fishing lure and saw a shark. I bought a new to me boat on Monday, so next summer I won't be screwing with the shore dives too much since they're all fished out by mid-July (at least all the ones I know of).

I have never shot any spears. i have had an old hawaiian sling in my hands a few times, but no fish. I was just snorkeling around in the OBX. So a few weeks ago I decided not to take it and there are small fish everywhere. I touched 5 spot with my hands, so I know I could head shot a few of the bigger ones with the sling.
