NC State Records

Anyone know where to find the NC State record for a Scamp? All I can find is the record for a Warsaw and Strawberry. Shot this 24# Scamp yesterday.

Hard to see the hole. Luckily it was a stone shot. I was freeshafting and he was out in the open and could have easily taken off with my spear. He sat 20 feet from me and watched me string a Gag. I saw him as I was clipping my stringer and I've never loaded a speargun any faster! I kicked twice towards him and he turned to the side like he wanted me to shoot him and I let him have it.Biggest Scamp I've ever shot!

Found the SC record and its 23lb 10oz. You'd have it in SC.

I'm kind of amazed at the number of big scamps and reds we're getting here lately. A friend of mine shot a 20lb red on tues and the 28lb fieback we got last week was pretty(some of the pics were emailed to me but the file is so large I can't shrink it). The big gags are being elusive though, but I think I know where to look if I can get a day off to go.

Tom, we saw some huge gags but couldn't get anywhere close to them. We managed to shoot 5 in the 15 to 18# range but there were a few that were well over 25 lbs but hauled ass if we got within 25 ft. of them. If you are looking to resize your pics i've got a program called Irfanview that will resize them. I downloaded it free and it's fairly easy to use. I'd like to see that 28# fireback.

The problem with the pics I got was they were sent to me via email and trying to get them into my computer so I can resize them has been impossible. I'd rather let the guys on the trip post the pics and story. Yeah, the big gags don't get that way by being stupid.

Yeah, it does suck that it doesn't count. I know a few people that have beat the state records for hook & line while spearfishing including myself. It should be recognized somehow though.

What was the weight of the hog and scamp you are referring too?
