View Full Version : Great Trip on the SpearIt
I am "trying to post these pictures correctly so I DO apologize if it Sucks.
Our trip with Tom was Awesome, As Usual! We went down for two days of diving and on the First drop Richard and i were looking at huge Scamps up and down a Ledge. Richard saw this Fireback and shot it in the Ledge and i got the Scamp immediately afterwards, we grabbed a Bug on the way back to the anchor as our time was short since it was a deeper dive. We really didn't know How much of a Slob the Fireback was until we were on our saftey stop looking at just how Big this thing was. I have never seen a picture or another Fireback this big. The scamp was close to 16# and the Fireback was 28#. Truely a memorable dive.
If the post looks ok i'll put up some more pics from the following days.

That's one cool ass looking grouper! Nice fish!
The second day proved just a good as the First. We shot several Red Grouper (one Nice one)and a Gag and got one Nice Hog. Lots of Bugs everywhere to be picked up if you could do it without tearing off all the legs and letting them get away, that would be Me! ha Over the two days we filled up two 110quart coolers with Grouper and Snapper and several Nice Lobsters.
Tom definetly knows his stuff and his Drops! We'll be back SOON!!!

Is That A strawberry Grouper?? :D
Yes it's a Stawberry. There were tons of them around, that was the biggest one i'd seen in two days of diving though and i saw him on my way UP to do the saftey stop. Luckily i still had like 4 min until deco so i dropped back down quickly and popped him from above pulled him up to me and continued on with my ascent while stringing him and getting the shaft back in the gun. That is when it PAYS off to have a good dive partner helping you out the whole way.

That sure looks like a yellowfin not a strawberry.
The First picture IS a YellowFin/Fireback Grouper. I was guessing that the Strawberry comment was directed at the Second picture of me holding it and the Hog.
That one looks like a red grouper?
