Ace of Spades!

So I headed to Packery with expected results.....5" visibility. So I hop back in the car at about 9 and get to the Port A jetties at about 9:45 after a chat with a guy driving a black crown vic with some funny lights on top. Visibilty after a low tide about 5'. So I decide to hop in. I am hitting up a pier off of the jetty, hit the smaller of the spade's, reload and hit the larger spade fish. At this time I look up to see Ascuba Venture hauling all thier gear and class down my way. So I head to the end of the pier. I dive down a few times saw some small snapper and some small spades, then surface to find a 300' tanker hauling but into the channel....HOLD ON......I manage to get one hand on the pilings and hung out on the backside of the piling while the ship passed. (now I remember why I tried packery first!) It's not bad at all if your at the end of the jetty, but get in the channel and WHOA...it's like diving in a river. Well after the boat passed the vis dropped to about 3 or 4' and with new divers getting their certification....I thought I'd rather not be slinging steel with a bunch of people swiming down around the bottom. So I load up and head home...clean the fish and put some marinaide on them. Firing up the grill for lunch in about 5.4.3.2.1.......

Hey you gotta do what you gotta do when you don't have an offshore boat. Those spades were some damn good eatin. I gutted and scaled them....marinated in some lime and soy...put some rub on them and put them on the pit! Some fresh green beans and some rice! YUM YUM! I was really suprised how good they were. I will no longer pass shooting me some spades!
