Got there to decent vis about 8' or so on the outside of the jetties. Channel was all tore up because they were running the barge up and down in there and tide had just come out.
On the way out I shot a nice little sting ray. I was in about 3' of water and he started to swim off from under me. I let him get about 7' away and let him have it! Wammo....the new float line worked OK.....actually it needs some work before monday, but for the jetties it's workable. 45' line is plenty for packery. Anyway I was about 40 yards away from beach so I backed it up to the sand. Cut the barb off of it, pulled the spear and tossed it into the a lagoon in the rocks so I could grab it later. Didn't see anything else besides ton's of speckled trout. I'm getting tired of shooing 20-30" specs out of my way as I'm looking for snapper. It's getting old! Please hook and line fisherman hit the jetties with some BOTTOM gear rather then all your topwaters, that's where they are!
Swam around to the inside only to just about smack my face into some rocks as the vis was 2' and the waves were slamming me into the rocks..back to the outside, nothing more to speak of. So I decide to kick in and grab my ray and skirt it throw it in the cooler and head home. Well this thing must have drank a red bull and grew wings cause it wasn't in the lagoon! WTF...? I'm guessing some beach-goer saw a "stranded" ray and threw him out.

DAMN! LOTS of smaller snapper, but not a whole lot worth shooting. Gunna be headed to Port A more often.

Once it cools off a little you will probably be seeing some big snapper on the Jetties.

Maybe we need to see about talking to the TPWD about get the laws changed so we can shoot game fish.
