Here's the first snapper I took with my Riffe Bottom. Not a bad start. It came off an East Cameron braced caisson platform in 80 ft of blue water...

Nice fish, and nice gun. I think I may have to try and find one of those! It may take a couple of weeks, but I am going to see if I can scrounge up one of those guns.

That is one nice snapper. Proof that you don't need a big gun to shot the big fish.

It's ironic that I get lots of compliments on my gun. It's the smallest thing Riffe makes, so you wouldn't expect a lot of comments. The owner of "my" dive shop, Mike Cryer, spearo extrodinaire, called it "cute" when the gun arrived.
But it's a great gun. In fact, I just lost it yesterday. Dropped in 175 ft. But I love the gun so much that I'm ordering another just like it.
Mike is great with these Riffe guns and he rerigs em with cable between the gun and spear. This little gun works best with the upgraded bands with that rig, but it's fine off the shelf, with the mono and stock bands.
I just placed the order so if you really want one call Hydrosports in Lake Jackson.
Fair winds. (not likely this weekend)

Where did you loose it at? There have been several lost this year, from some narced people.. and I kicked one off of a boat. Accidently...my name went from LLoyd Bridges to Butterfingers..
I live in Brazoria County also. That is a great gun. Will be perfect for Hydrohunters son, when he starts spearing. Nice snapper almost in the 20 lb range too. ;)

Brazos A-70. 120 ft or so from the leg at the surface. Not much current, so it should be nose down, butt up NNE of the NE leg. It has my name on it, but an old phone number...
Lots of cuda there. I got accosted at the surface and let go of some hinds. I'll post that story under another tread.

That's good you posted it...so now whomever finds it needs to return it. I have only been on 2 rigs this summer. But, many wrecks and piles, in some very deep water.

If any of you do find it, post here or bring it by the shop. Gun has an old phone number on it. I intend to try and find it as soon as I get a chance. It is a great gun, and since this one was ordered I have ordered two more this size. I think I am going to get Cayman one. I'll just hang it from my rear view mirror until he gets old enough to use it.

I'll give a hundred bucks to the honest chap who returns the gun....
