Living in Oklahoma has not allowed me to find a project that I am interested in locally. I am looking for a cabin sportfisher in the 25-30 foot range prefer with a trailer, but not needed. I am looking for something that may need repowered or rebuilt but with a good sound hull (last boat project had too much rott). Anybody know of one?? I am not in a big hurry on one, just looking for the right boat to do some diving and fishing from in the upcoming years with a limited starting budget.

I prefer Texas area, but I have family in Panama City, FL that I could go see if needed.

Any help appreciated.

I would search www.boattraderonline.com. You search by state or area code.

You could turn Speargun's Suburban into a cabin cruiser, that would be a project. :D

Yes, I stole this idea from the Cubans I saw on TV last week.

John,

Did ya see the Monster Garage where they turned a school bus into a pontoon boat? Very nice dive platform!

In January I picked up a 26ft proline from the Lighthouse Point marina in Bay Pines for $3000. If you look at all the local marinas you will find that if someone stops paying their rent the marina will put a lean on the boat and will sell it, CHEAP!!!! Call around and you might find a good deal. The boat that I picked up needed a little work but it is going to be worth well over what we will have in it.

TGuthrie,

I have been looking. Everything around here are ski boats. Yachtworld has a few interesting boats I am checking into though.

It is not real easy to find the boat that you want but it will pay off if you are pacient like it did for us, we have been looking for a few years. There is almost always a few that are out in front of the Lighthouse Point Marina in Bay Pines. It might be worth looking into, I go by every day and thre are a few that you might be intersted in.

Do they have a website?? I am a little to far to drive by right now. For the right boat I could drive down and maybe make a few new friends ready to teach me to spear....

I am not sure if they have a website, but it will not hurt to try a search. If you want to learn to spear there are trips in the St. Pete area every weekend with plenty of guys willing to lend a hand. If you want really good instruction from someone with a lot of teaching experience, contact Chad Charney at www.mobilescuba.com, he does it for a living.

TGuthrie,

I found somewhat of a site, but no good info. Its 1500 miles one way to Bay Pines from my home...I have contacted a Marina in Padre Island, TX about a 37' Convertable project. I am keeping patient for now. I will definatelly look into a good instructor when I am ready for the task. Thanks for the information and the contacts.
