Hello to all, I'm from Quebec Canada and I've started spearfishing this year. I will be going to Cuba this winter and was wondering if spearfishing is permitted. Does anyone know where I can find this information?
Thanks for your help.

have a good trip. If you are able to spearfish there please post a follow up of your trip and photos if at all possible.

I personally don't support the idea of tourism trips to Cuba, considering the fact that it is one of the country's top 3 sources of revenue.
Politics aside, I make no judgement on people from other nationalities that visit Cuba, that's your perogative, and I would love to see what you come with over their.
I don't know how tourism and spearfishing work over their.
I would definatley love to hear a report and say hi to Castro for me.

copied from http://away.com/tripideas/cuba-scuba-diving-312564.html If you want to spearfish you will have to do so illegally.
Fidel himself, El Commandante, is a scuba diver, although at 72, most of his best dives are in his logbook. He's also an ex-spearfisherman who—recognizing the dangers spearing can have for larger, mature fish—has banned all spearfishing here. A number of no-take marine preserves are also set up around the island, some of which even require permits to visit.

PM Stabbinboy. He's done diving/spearfishing there and may be able to hook you up with a contact or two.

They spearfish at Gitmo. Maybe not a fun tourist spot, tho.
