Has anyone dived the Boatman material 6 miles out of Aransas? The relief didn't look like much, with even less fish on it when we passed over. I'm particularly interested in the culverts. I couldn't find any material in the location published by the Parks and Wildlife material list.
Also found no relief on the sounder at the well head location.
I did see the barge though. Just an old Hopper barge mostly buried in the murk and sand. Some small snapper and not a lot else. I watched it carefully for ten minutes but couldn't get anything to come out and say hi. Maybe the fish didn't see a speargun and thought, he must be packing one of the new concealed handspearguns. I tried to look innocent.
And before Hydro pipes up, I was NOT wearing my HydroOptix mask either.

Dennis,
I used to visit there often. My last vist was early May. I'm not seeing the fish there like there once was.
Also, what kind of boat are you Captain on, a Crew boat? Just curious. Also if your looking for a homeport. Corpus Christi is a great area!!

I run OSVs. Right now I'm working for Texas Crewboats. I hate to leave next year after I upgrade my license, because no other company will let me spearfish and dive at work.
I like Corpus too. I'm going to school in Lauderdale all of October, so I'll start really looking after the first of the year. Corpus doesn't have much of a sailing community though.

Dennis, I'm crushed. I would never say a thing about your mask that puts more "ogle in your goggle!"
Manana!

I suppose the muck has swallowed the culverts long ago. I did catch a sail there about 3 years ago.

I took sailing lessons in Corpus one year; or tried, and the wind blows too hard from the south....I was hauling my ARSE off..

Windiest city in the USA. That's the reason they hold windsurfing nationals here! Saw Sid again today...he said hello. There's a wreck trip down to South Padre October some time. $250 includes hotel over night. You just need to get there. They said they would allow spearing on the ship. If your interested Call Ascuba Venture.

Is it true its the windiest city? What about The Windy City (TM)? Maybe the windiest coastal city? maybe?
I know it stays rougher in the western Gulf.

Tell Sid I said hello. Spearing off the ship? Well I may just take him up on that. Hotel night also? WOW, It would be good to go down that way and visit with some old friends. I wouldn't be interested unless I could spear off the ship.. :D :D Shoot dinner for everyone :D

Yup Corpus is the windiest city in the USA. "The Windy City" Chicago was named that because of it's politicians not it's weather.
Carla yes they said we could spear while others are diving the wreck. Did some 5'vis spearing today. Got a mangrove and a Sheepy.

I usually make 2 or 3 trips to Corpus Christi every year. My last visit was in May. It would be nice to drive my red convertible mustang, but my spearguns won't fit. Decisions...I better borrow my friends truck. I have belonging's to pick up in Rockport. Half of my furniture is there. I left it thinking I would move back one day. But I know now that's not going to happen :(
But a spearing trip with friends would make it all better... ;) Thanks for telling me.

Whaddaya mean, they won't fit??? Seems you should be able to haul the BIGGEST spearguns in your convertible... with the top down!!! :D

Intotheblue...they'll stick out!!! Ha Ha. You know I have too much gun for me now... ;) I might get pulled over. More drama in my life???? I hope your girlfriend makes it back safe from Brazil. I know you miss her, and I'm looking forward to meeting her. Her and I we'll have a good time on your boat.. :D :D Do you think we can still go out on your boat. I'll wash it and wax it for you, and run the engines for you...Purrrrrr

If that is the little reef charted just southwest of the Aransas sea buoy, I just did a multibeam survey of that reef, as well as 6 other reefs in the South Padre area last week. 7 1/2 fathom reef was awesome, way more life than any other reef in Texas, probably because of the remoteness of the site. I don't see Ike paying for your little spearfishing jaunt, but I am convinced you have pictures of him and the goat. Let me know if you want the survey relults

Frank! What on earth are you talking about? No, I haven't seen photos of him or a goat??? Really there is enough Spearfishing here for me out of Freeport Jetty's for only $50.00, but I would like to meet up with some old friends down South.
Also, eventually meet up with you & Melanie soon for a voyage to the Flower Gardens. I met some of your new crew at a party. TWD, I would say you have your hands full.

I want to say between 100-70' not really sure. Had my reg go out on me last weekend so I had to buy a new 1st and second stage. I don't know if I'm going to be able to make it now with funds being tight.

That's why I was asking? I wonder if there are any big fish. Thats shallow water for this time of year. The fish I like move in deeper water this time of year. However; I have seen some cabera snapper at that depth. I would doubt that I would see one there.
I have an idea I'll pull the Hydrosport down there with me when I go. I have to borrow a truck anyway. :p Now that I know where it is at :D

Frank was writing to me about the goat.... I get a lot out of my job. Much more than most. But Ike doesn't pay for it. His customer does. Ike gets free wheel jobs.
I'd love to see the survey. Canyou email it?
