Whats Going on with the Viz??

hey all, i would like to apologize for disappering for the past month. but in my defense, the visibility has absolutely sucked. i have been out several times during the month of july but every trip turned out to be a big disappointment. i can't really explain why the vis has been horrible.... storms, swell, plankton blooms??? dunno. but i think we are looking at an "indian summer" so hopefully the fish will stick around a bit longer in the fall.

ps- for all of those in the Oranger County area, please make an effort to come to the next OCHunter meeting... and bring friends. there is an opportunity to make this a solid long lasting watermens club.

Hi Sask and Kyle,
You are right, visibility WAS improving, and yesterday it shut down within an hour.
My buddy Chris and I jumped in at Boomer's and it was clear...estimated 15-20 foot vis at 2pm;
At 2:40 a swell began picking up, and within minutes it looked like someone stirred the bottom with a stick. Lots of green junk, with green bubbles at the surface.
--A real dissappointment, as it had been so promising. We had seen small baitfish and assorted little schools of small brown fish all darting in and out of the kelp outside the Reserve. Didn't hear any WSB but saw 3 whales outside the Cove moving north.
The temperature has been slightly cooler, and I think we were all hoping a change would cause some better visibility.
Will check again tomorrow.

Rode over to Catalina and back today, the viz was below avarage, for Cat. The sea on the way over and back looked like steel.

Two trips out to Anacapa, viz was poor those days as well. Just a glitch in our usually great diving.
