A buddy of mine has a friend who runs a casino/hotel in Belize, which is outfitted with scuba gear and dive instructors for the tourists. Apparently it's right on the ocean. The long of the short of it, I may end up getting a free trip there (whoo-hoo!). However, I have no idea as to what is legal/illegal for spearing. I don't know if spearguns are legal - I want to take my Picasso 120, but I would hate to get it confiscated. Other than that, I have no clue what the game is like there . . . but I anticipate that it would be typical tropical fare and very good (grouper, hogs, etc.) Anybody got any tips/advice?

Thanks,
James

You can spearfish but not on scuba, and you have to do it outside the sanctuaries. I don't think that there are any speargun prohibitions.

I am going there on Nov 1st and got in touch with a few locals who told me you can spearfish ONLY while freediving and ONLY with a sling/ polespear.
