My take

The process of admission is a complex mental phenomena, progressing internally often from denial or ignorance to a comfortable acceptance of fact or circumstance.

In the first definition we begin to allow for the possibility of of some alternate fact, position, act or view.We "permit" ourselves to question our own concepts and look outside of our narrow view.Sort of an open-mindedness.

In my life one of the ways this was shown had to do with freeshafting big fish,I didn't do it or prefer to and had some misconceptions about how difficult it was to stone bigger fish.As I saw others do it I began to believe it was possible.

In the second definition we begin to value this outside truth and thereby make room for it in our own belief structure and life.Whether we chose to act on it is unimportant. At this point we may have moral, ethical, physical or other limitations or boundaries which preclude acting on it.We may see that something is so but there is no compunction on us to take any action.

My own views on freeshafting once again.I now believed it was possible to kill bigger fish from a distance and gain the reloading advantage as well as the simplicity. But I retained the line as a form of security.I was accepting of others ability but not my own.

In the third definition we incorporate our new view into daily life.Whether we choose to participate or actively pursue the development of this new awakening is up to us.But it is now part and parcel of our belief structure. We have separated the previous ignorance, misconceptions or blatant dis-belief. from fact.It is now truly inside us.

While I do freeshaft quite a bit now,it is due to a lot of shooting with a line to learn how shot placement affected fish.I am now confident in my abilities and it is part of me.I retain a line for big AJ and Cobia 99% of the time but have stoned a few mid-water.So I was able to incorporate a new idea into my beliefs without discarding all of my old ones.

While this is a simplistic explanation, the principle of admission retains it's ability to change people's lives. When applied to religious, political, spiritual and general life issues the lines blur sometimes but the process remains. To admit does not mean to take or change a moral, ethical or value position...simply a clear look at what's staring at you.

That's good stuff Tony. Alot of people can't verbalize the way our thought processes work so well. What you said is something we all know, but is tough to commit to words.

Thanks bro.

Very good read....I am in sales (25+years)....before selling, things where easily seen as black or white, right or wrong, seemingly easy to catorgorize.....In sales, I deal with people who actually are my opponents and dont always agree with me and although it took a while, listening rather than talking became a way of life...I now live in a world of finding the mutually accepted gray area where both sides neither totally win or totally loose. Listening always allows me to learn something....and.... if you listen long enough (most people love to talk) your opponent will expose their vulnerability...

enjoyed it.
I am about like you on the freeshafting. I like it and now believe that if you get good enough at it thats the way to go.
I still use the line alot , it's tough to give up that security blanket completly.
