What does a boat hull survey cost? How do they do this?

Usually between $300.00 & $1000.00 for recreational type boats depending on the size of the boat and how extensive of a survey you require. The above prices would be reflective of what an insurance company might require before issuing a policy.

Thx,
If you were going to buy a used hull, say a 1996 - 2000 and it looked fine would you have it surveyed? I would think if it looked good with no damage and the previous owner said it was never wrecked that would be okay. ??
Thanks again.

Hull only? No engine, trans, electrical? If so, all you really need to be concerned about would be gel coat blisters, glass delamination, wood rot in the transom, etc. A good fiberglass guy/technician might be better than a surveyor in that case.

My plan would be to immediately repower with new motors and rigging before even putting it in the water. New electronics too. I would sell the old motors at wholesale just to move them quickly. The hull I'm speaking of is a 31' contender cuddy.
I appreciate your time.
Thx,

Find your self a good glass man to inspect the hull, decks, & transom. Forget about the survey!
