I know everyone has there personal bias and preference when it comes to boats, but like all things there are some makes and models that have had good years and bad years. What is your personal choice for the most underrated or overlooked boats? My fav is 25 mako 1975-1982 the best riding hull in that size range I have ever been on. Smoother ride than most new 30ft cc boats, and about twice the fiberglass. Seemed to go down in build quality in the mid 80's. I'm sure there has to be some gems out there that are a bit more obscure than a Mako.

I think for diving a Cape Horn is a great dive boat, lots of room, nice ride. I've only been on the 32 but it was real nice.

I have a couple of friends with Hydrosports and newer makos and I'd much rather have the Cape Horn for what I do.

I'm very impressed with the room on the 32 Twin Vee, but dont know how they ride or anything.

I put a bracket on a 70ish 28 foot Stamas with a hard top and flybridge and with the roomy decks it should make a great dive boat eventually.

Yeah, thats my (our...) old Morgan. Not quite underrated though, they have a huge cult following. Lots of calls when I put it up for sale. I already miss that boat. I here it now has a new pilothouse with raked forward windows and a flybridge/tower. Cant wait to see it after its fully decked out.

Concur and disagree. The Mako 25 with 23 degree deadrise is a fantastic hull. The Mako 251, 254 and 261s are close seconds. The Mako 23 CC with 19 degrees deadrise is very nice IMHO. I guess I was so used to the hard rides of an Outrage (and pangas) that the Makos seem like silk. I love the ride of an older Mako - and you will find many people who will agree. That's why there is such a resurgance in their popularity. People are spending small fortunes restoring and modernizing these older hulls. Check out some finished projects.

I think Cape horn boats are very under rated. There unsinkable, well laid out and have a good dry ride. I think dead-rise is around 21, a good compromise between ride and stababilty on anchor. Maybe one day they'll build a pilot house model I hate center consoles.

Dusky boats, C-Hawk, MayCraft...all solid boats and perhaps a bit underrated.

Not all Mako's are alike. Keyskiller's 74' 23 definitely looks like a rough ride.

What the heck? I have a 1978 Mako 23 CC and it's supposed to have the exact same hull as the 1974? What happened to your Vee?
