I would go with the longer gun out of the three - gives you more options depending on future dive locations.

Of the 3 I would consider the JBL Competition magnum the lesser of the 3 evils.
I own a JBL woody and lately I have been tempted to pour lighter fluid and burning it after every trip. JBL is a good gun but I have a bone to pick about their decision to use spearshafts with screw-on tips. As I mentioned in an earlier thread, I have had to replace 2 spearshafts and tips so far this year as they have proven themselves prone to breaking.
I would recommend a spearfishing specialties gun or an AB biller.
But if you have your heart set on a JBL  I would recommend the competition magnum.

Jason,
Is there a reason that you are looking at such short guns? Limited Vis, Rocks, price? Where are you diving? I had one of those guns when I was like 9 years old. I think you may want something larger.

Personally, I would use a longer gun. You can always power up a longer gun but cant do much about a shorter gun. You can easily use a three band gun and load two especially when shooting close range. You get longer shots and more accuracy also with a longer gun. Better to start right than learn the hard way that you made a mistake
