Were you scuba diving or freediving for those fish? Either way, quite impressive. You don't look a day over 12 years.

I was using a homemade speargun with sidestocks. 4 - 5/8" bands 67inch shaft 11/32 diameter made by Masahiro Mori as well as a Mori Slip tip. Mori's stuff is THE BEST.
The Fish were taken from a high spot about 8-12 miles offshore. The current was up so it made it knida hard to stay on the spot and get to the bottom. The reef fish were all holding right off the bottom at about 65- 75 ft deep and were pretty spooky. When you got to the bottom you'd have to wait for a while (15-30 seconds)for the fish to come in. That was hard but The amberjack, yellowtail, and white seabass just swam right up to me on my way down to the bottom.

Isn't that a yellow rope suspending the fish by its bottom jaw from the overhead beam? I can also see yellow rope coiled on the floor underneath the fish.

the first fish he is in front of is the Broomtail grouper, which is being hung by a rope. I know Brandon, sort of, he attends the Long Beach Neptune meetings and Brandon has shot some qaulity fish this year....mainly some huge White Sea Bass. So i can vouch for his skills. Secondly, i hope to be heading to the same place in Mexico (with Al Schneppershoff Jr) in October to shoot some of the same fish. Great work Brandon, looks like i need to shoot a monster WSB now.

ps- brandon, i'll introduce myself at the next Neptune's meeting, i am Julie's boyfriend... so you'll see me sitting with the Riffe's.
Again, congrats on some great fish.

Yes, look at the rules for the Big Fish Contest and you'll see you can register that Yellowtail or WSB. One or the other. I've got the Columbia windbreakers in and they turned out very nice with the embroidered spearboad logo, so it's definitiely worth registering the fish.

Scott: If I'm not mistaken that broomtail is a grouper. Couldn't he also enter it in the grouper category?

You are freediving to 60 feet? Fighting huge fish at 60 feet? Wow I didn't realize freedivers were able to haul a huge catch in at 60 feet, in general zeN
Zen's right, hauling up a 100lb fish from 60' is d#"m good! Doing it on a lungful of air is talent and experince by the truckload. But PV you do look like your 12 :p.
