That was interesting, why did'nt the Author list Christ first?
I think he was trying to stir the pot to get attention.
And to list Newton before Christ, please....

I would note that Julius Caesar was never actually "Emperor." He was Dictator of the republic and killed because Senators feared he wanted to become Emperor. His adopted heir, Octavian, became Augustus the first true Roman Emperor.

I don't endorse any of the listings or their religious leanings. However it would appear in addition to "ruining the world" for everyone else religiously affiliated people do make very open-minded advances. Not that everyone with an affiliation has similar abilities or even that some of the affiliations were very loose.

I figure Moses should have been first. Interesting read.

moses couldn't of saved more than a hundred thousand people. Millions of people have survived or lived a long life because of Louis Pasteur's discoveries. Jesus and all the other religious leaders may have saved peoples soul's but without Pastuer, they wouldn't be alive, or have lived.

Edward Jenner, discovered the vaccine for smallpox, should be way higher up on the list. Pasteur and Jenner were scientist that actually cured disease, unlike todays money grubbing doctors that just treat your symptom's.

The recent vaccine for HPV will save a few thousand lives a year but medical research the way it is now is different.Pasteur,Lister,Jenner etc... were special in their openness to new ideas as well as empirical research.
Moses is important not as much for saving the Israelites to me as the 10 commandments.Along with Hammurabi's Code they codified law and had a great impact on society and are the basis for most law worldwide.

Pargo, give up your quest to beat up someone on the internet who challenges you. Instead of telling them how you're going to beat them up, just argue logically and sensibly with them and beat them with intelligence, if you can. Your stand-offish attitude isn't really productive for Spearboard, and the majority of the time, you come across as a little man with a little dick who needs to validate himself by threatening people on the internet. Why do you want to confront internet weasels so bad, do you really want to get in a fist fight that bad? If you're as big a man as you claim you are, little punk ass kids and their comments would roll off you like water on a freshly waxed car.

pargo, i wasnt trying to pick a fight with you when i made that comment, i was just stating my opinion, i can assure u that i am not little, i am not a punk, neither am i free with my tongue from a distance :)

my "moses parted the bloody sea" comment was a little bit of comedy into my reply, im sorry to see that you cant appreciate it, unlike a few others might have, anyways, why didnt u post the reply to what i said in the same topic i said it? i just happened to hop back on here to check out the list again, otherwise it might have been days before i saw it..

Interesting, had this been done 25 years ago I bet Marx would be number 1 and not Muhammed. He's number one because of the influence, good and bad, of Islam in todays world.

Interesting that Fleming was 41 when you consider how many people died from simple infections before the invention of penicillin

It is more interesting that many people say : This should be first or that should be first.
Just like a football match!! it is not about who you like the most, it is about history and facts. If it was left to personal opinions it would have been a big miss, do not you think? Maybe some "American idol" would be first.
Peace.
