The New Hour with Jim Lehrer on PBS had a piece on this last night, and I almost cried. The reporter who did the investigative work said that she and her cohorts did cry a lot while doing the story..

Nothing is too good for our vets, but we give it to them anyway.

"Support the Troops" my ass!

What about all those people with Support Troops ribbons? Moral support maybe?

I have a ribbon on my truck that says Support Strippers (seriously), and I do it

Funny, I just saw a piece also about a vet that had his legs blown off and he (with the help of Govt business loans and also the franchising company) just opened up his own fast food franchise...
Didnt see the piece that you speak of, but I am sure it is sad. Our war-wounded have always faired poorly after any war... Even civil war vets were not taken care of back in their day... Should end, but it is not exclusive to this administration whatsoever...

Yup but this administration is spouting off that if you don't support the war you are not supporting the troops when the administration in charge isn't even taking care of the troops wounded at home. What does that say about their supprot for the troops abroad?

The wounded should of course be taken care of, that is shameful... Here's an idea... Every fortune 500 company involved with making profit on the Iraq war should have a $.01 per dollar earned tax placed on them that is earmarked directly for wounded vets and their families..... Not much to ask, and the windfall for those troups would be phenominal...

Sounds like a good idea but I think it should be more along the lines of $0.05 or $0.10 if troops are help guard any of the work you are doing.

Conservatives are always saying that the government should stay out of everything and that the government that governs least governs best. Maybe that helps explain how this government let the wounded troops down.

Anyway, I just ran across this quote that seemed to fit the theme.:)

Conservatives cannot govern well for the same reason that
vegetarians cannot prepare a world-class boeuf bourguignon: If you
believe that what you are called upon to do is wrong, you are not likely
to do it very well.
